Pinnacle met up with the Saguaro Sabrecats for their final regular season home game. It also happened to be senior night and homecoming which meant a packed stadium and pressure on the Pioneers to not only win but do so with authority.

The Pioneers can put points on the board going into the game with 380 combined and a 42 per game average. The Sabrecats would need to contain standout senior quarterback Wyatt Horton and exploit a Pioneers defense that allowed 30 or more points 5 times during the season.

Senior defensive back Jack Gasior addressed the question of whether Pinnacle's defense came to play in the opening Saguaro drive when he intercepted an errant Marcel Jones pass and returned it 50 yards for a touchdown.
Junior Alex Lugo scored on the ensuing and Pioneers first offensive possession of the game and the tone was set for the evening.

Lugo combined for 76 yards behind Xavier Valdivia with 79 and Wyatt Horton who led the team with 304 yards. Horton then connected with senior Jace Pina on a 29 yard touchdown pass and the Pioneers went into half time with a commanding 34-6 lead over Saguaro.

According to Pinnacle Athletic Director David Abrams, "This is exactly how we wanted to finish our regular season. Our defense really stepped up tonight and I think we have all the pieces in place for our playoff run to the state title game."
The Sabrecats are done for the season and Pinnacle will face Mountain Pointe on November 15th at home in the first playoff round. Pinnacle is 3-1 at Pioneers' stadium this season.
