Agua Fria @ Deer Valley 10-13-25

After a rough 2 game road swing at Peoria and Estrella Foothills, Deer Valley found themselves back at home taking on the Agua Fria Owls. Agua Fria was looking for a much needed win to end their 8 game drought dating back to September 13th when they beat Independence. It wouldn't be this one, however.

The Skyhawks came out strong winning the first set 25-10. While the Owls were able to gain a little momentum against the stronger, senior heavy Deer Valley team they weren't able to win either of the following two sets. Deer Valley won the match 3-0 with set scores of 25-16 and 25-15.

Deer Valley boasts 9 seniors this season with all the leadership and experience that number implies. Leading the group is Izzy Darnell who is a likely favorite for all region honors at season's end. In this outing Darnell wracked up 13 kills and 8 service aces and while impressive no where here her season highs in either category. Asked to comment about her team's win coach Jackie Wallace had only "What can I say - Izzy brings the boom!" for me.

Next up for the Skyhawks is Westview on Thursday at home who will be coming in off a similarly impressive win over the Owls. No rest for the Owls who will be back at home tomorrow to face a dangerous Estrella Foothills team.
