Dobson came into Pinnacle riding a six game winning wave including a playoff victory and were hoping to win another away game to advance. Two nights ago the Mustangs knocked off a tough Tucson Badger team in Tucson and hoping lightning would strike twice. The Pioneers clearly did not share their vision and even without senior stand out Braylon Johnson managed to beat Dobson convincingly.

Pinnacle came out under the direction of senior Tommy Randolph who has been plagued all season by shin splints but was clearly healthy enough for this game. Randolph led the first half in scoring for the Pioneers with his aerial acrobatics and dunks as well as mid range pull up jumpers to keep the Mustangs on their toes.

Importantly, Randolph distributed the ball to his team mates in what was a balanced offensive attack from both inside the paint and outside the arc. Sophomores Saleem Gakiza and Kareem Alkhalifa both scored in double figures with Alkhalifa posting a double double.

Coach Wilde noted "Everyone needed to step up this game and they did. We haven't had a chance to play with a full roster this season so our guys have been forced to be flexible." The Pioneers beat the Mustangs 62-34 but the game wasn't even that close. The Pioneers will have the Liberty Lions for the third time this season on February 28th at Pinnacle.
