Bridging the Thanksgiving holiday break, Chandler-Gilbert Community College hosted the LV8 Invitational Tournament. Centennial started the tourney with a win over Eastmark 55-51 on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Next up for the Coyotes was San Tan Charter who Centennial knocked off 66-60. The win set up a championship matchup with the Pinnacle Pioneers who beat Ironwood Ridge and Williams Field to earn their spot.
The Saturday Championship game played to overtime as the Coyotes win it 54-52. The win is the second championship in as many tournament contests for first year Centennial head coach Zach Hettel who won his bracket over the Summer at Section 7.
Asked to comment on his LV8 Tournament win Coach Hettel told us "It was a great opportunity for us to go against some good competition and find out a little about ourselves. What we do well and what we need to continue to focus on and get better. It’s all about clicking come February and March."
Centennial doesn't begin region play until January 9, 2026 with a road game at Willow Canyon but will have another chance to collect a tournament trophy at the annual Visit Mesa invitational hosted by Westwood between the Christmas and New Year holidays. Centennial will play its home opener December 3rd against O'Connor.
